Fireworks in Edinburgh

We are a Glasgow shop, about an hour along the M8, and we deliver across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Everything we sell has been tested and filmed by us before it goes on the site, so what you watch on the product page is the firework that turns up.

Read this before you buy anything

Edinburgh has more Firework Control Zones than anywhere else in Scotland — 14 of them in force for 2026, running from the end of October into the first week of November.

A control zone is not a curfew and it is not about noise. Inside one, it is a criminal offence for a member of the public to set off a firework at all — in the street, in a park, or in your own back garden. The maximum penalty is a £5,000 fine, six months in prison, or both. Only category F1 items, sparklers and the like, sit outside it.

The zones cover a mix of areas across the city, some carried over from previous years and some new for 2026, and the list is redrawn annually. We are deliberately not printing it here, because a stale list on a firework shop's website is how somebody ends up with a criminal record. If your street is inside one, ring us. Indoor fountains, sparklers, ice fountains and daylight smoke effects are all still fine, and there is more choice there than people expect.

The times, if you are outside a zone

Fireworks can be set off between 6pm and 11pm and no other time. The exceptions are 5 November, when you have until midnight, and Hogmanay, Chinese New Year and Diwali, when you have until 1am. Scotland's hours are tighter than England's, so ignore any advice written for down south.

Getting them to Edinburgh

Fireworks are classed as hazardous goods, so they cannot go by ordinary parcel post — they travel with specialist couriers set up to carry them. That means delivery costs more than a normal parcel and there is a minimum order before we can send any out. Put your postcode in at the checkout and you will see the exact price and options before you pay.

Two things worth knowing if you are shopping for Bonfire Night. Order early: the couriers get very busy through late October and dates go. And if you are coming through to Glasgow anyway, collection from the shop is free.

What suits an Edinburgh garden

Much of the city is tenements and terraces with not a lot of clear ground. The number that matters is the safety distance on the box — 8 metres, 15 metres or 25 metres — and it decides what you can safely use more than the price does. Tell us the size of your space and what the night is for and we will point you at the right thing, including when that is something smaller than you had in mind.
