Fireworks in Glasgow

We are not a warehouse with a website. Firework Superstore is a shop on Bogmoor Road in Shieldhall, and if you are anywhere in Glasgow you can come in, look at the boxes, ask what a barrage actually does in a normal garden, and take it away the same day.

The rules where you live

Scotland is stricter than England, and a lot of what you will read online is written for down south. Here is what actually applies in Glasgow.

You can set fireworks off between 6pm and 11pm. Not before, not after. There are four nights when you get longer: 5 November you have until midnight, and Hogmanay, Chinese New Year and Diwali you have until 1am. Outside those hours it is an offence, and the maximum is a £5,000 fine, six months inside, or both.

Firework Control Zones

This is the one that catches people out. Glasgow City Council has designated four Firework Control Zones for 2026 — Broomhouse, Pollok, Glasgow Harbour, and Govanhill and Pollokshields together — running from the end of October into the first week of November.

Inside a zone it is a criminal offence for a member of the public to set off a firework at all. That includes your own back garden. It is not a noise rule or a curfew; the whole area is off limits for that period. Sparklers and other category F1 items are not caught by it.

Zones change year to year, so check the council's own list before you buy: Glasgow City Council — Firework Control Zones. If you are inside one, come and talk to us — indoor fountains, sparklers and smoke effects are all still on the table, and we would rather sell you the right thing than have you land a fine.

Buying all year, not just in October

Most shops can only sell fireworks in the run-up to Bonfire Night, New Year, Diwali and Chinese New Year. We hold a licence to store and sell outside those windows, so a birthday in March or a wedding in July is no problem.

You need to be over 18 and we will ask for ID. We sell category F2 and F3 to the public; F4 is professional-only and we do not sell it over the counter.

What works in a Glasgow garden

Tenement back courts and new-build gardens are tight, and the safety distance printed on the box is the number that decides what you can use. Most of what we sell to city customers is 8 metre or 15 metre kit. If you have got 25 metres of clear space you have got more options than most.

Neighbours close by, or a dog that hates the bangs? Ask about the low-noise range — it has come a long way and it is a lot better than it used to be.
